10 Street Style Moments That Changed The Way We Dressed This Year

No debate, ugly sneakers took over this year. Take the Balenciaga ‘Triple S’ or the resurgence of Skechers ‘Stamina,’ the normcore trend got an upgrade in the form of extreme dad sneakers.  

Yep, it was the year of the fannypack, alright. Equal parts fashion and function, the hands-free accessory was seen on almost everyone this year.

New neutrals: This year, the street style set mastered monochromatic layering in soft pastels and vibrant hues – a far cry from the “greige” obsession of years past.

Almost every brand released a transparent PVC iteration of their classic accessories this year. And almost everyone went crazy for Celine’s chic takeaway version.

Animal prints rose in popularity like never before this year. From leopard to zebra, everyone was wearing a piece of this wild print.

Logomania is showing no signs of stopping. Dior’s saddlebag made its way back into our repertoire with supernova speed and Fendi’s signature print was seen from dresses to boots to coats.

The most hotly debated item on the streets: bike shorts. Though 90s at its core, the bikeshort is actually pretty easy to make modern. Case in point the blazer-bikeshort combo we saw literally everywhere.

Fluorescents were a-frenzy all year long, likely inspired by Balenciaga’s allover neon looks from SS17.

The most utilitarian trend of the year? Puffer coats. Winter streets were full of statement making puffers that trickled down into the high street.  

The hypebeast was the most influential figure of 2018. This logo-loving fashion fan has a voracious appetite for everything new and piles it on like there’s no tomorrow.
