6 Black Summer Outfits Inspired By Mary Kate And Ashley’s Refusal To Wear Color

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen made a rare red carpet appearance last week at the Youth America Grand Prix’s 20th Anniversary Gala in New York City.  While showing up in the first place may have been a shock, what they wore on the carpet decidedly was not. That’s because, like always, the sister designers and style icons both wore oversized all-black ensembles (save for MK’s red heels). At this point, it doesn’t matter the weather or the occasion because you can all but guarantee that they will step out in all black and look chicer than ever.

 

 

Their outfits were certainly not surprising but they were a stark contrast to the bright colors everyone else has been wearing as they try to will warm weather into existence. In 2019 especially, neon is one of the biggest trends and people are walking around New York City looking like an 80s rave threw up on them. Of course, no one is saying color is a bad thing but I have to admit that I’m inspired by Mary Kate and Ashley’s consistent rejection of anything other than black. Who says summer has to quell your inner goth?
