Merch and exclusive influencer drops have become more coveted than actual high fashion itself, just ask Anna Wintour. Wintour is an avid and outspoken tennis fan, and Roger Federer is by far her favorite player. The Cut reports that Federer’s recent deal with Uniqlo got her seal of approval.

“Sometimes I have called her up in the past for advice; I also asked her about Uniqlo, and she thought it was a great idea and would be a wonderful match-up if it would work out,” he said at a press conference. “Sometimes she also likes to know what I’m going to wear. It’s all so I bring cool stuff to tennis, and Anna has been incredibly supportive.”

Federer was previously endorsed by Nike, but recently made the switch to Uniqlo in July. He played his first match in Uniqlo at Wimbledon. The Cut notes that Federer’s tennis career will probably end before his 10 year contract with Uniqlo, but that there are plenty opportunities to collaborate outside of sportswear.

“It feels different because it’s not just about tennis clothes or a limited-edition situation going on,” Federer told the Cut. “I feel like when I do something now with Uniqlo it will be for the masses, which is great. It’s something I couldn’t do in the past.”

Federer’s favorite piece of his Uniqlo x Roger Federer Gamewear clothing is, apparently, the $4 socks. The matching tennis shirt and shorts are available for pre-order at Uniqlo’s site now.
