This Friday, August 31, people will gather at a private funeral service in Detroit to honor Aretha Franklin. Among those people, there will be a number of other well-known names, including Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Shirley Caeser, and more. The Detroit Free Press reports that the service will be broadcast by the Associated Press, as well as CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News.
Aretha passed away on Thursday, August 17 due to pancreatic cancer. She was 76-years-old. The public viewing of her casket at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History was held on August 28 and 29.
