Ariana Grande Has Basically Confirmed Her Engagement on Twitter

Ah, young love! Just weeks after Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson started dating, announced indirectly via Harry Potter-themed Instagram post, reports surfaced yesterday that the couple is engaged.

On Monday, multiple sources told People that the singer and Saturday Night Live comedian were engaged to be married after dating just a few weeks. “It’s a recent engagement. They’re just two people who found love quickly and make each other happy all the time. They both started talking about it this past weekend. It’s nothing they’ve been hiding,” a source close to the couple told People.

There has been no official confirmation, but shortly after the rumors caused an internet frenzy, Grande tweeted ambiguously, “i love u… sm… bye,” she wrote, along with many monkey-covering-its-eyes emojis. The 24-year-old singer has also been liking and replying to several tweets talking about weddings and being the future “Mrs. Davidson.”

TMZ reported that Davidson shelled out almost $100,000 for the engagement ring, a VVS1 clarity diamond in platinum that took almost two weeks to make. It was commissioned by NYC jeweler Greg Yuna (aka Mr. Flawless). Slate explored why we’re all so captivated by this whirlwind romance, even those of us who don’t normally keep up with celeb romances. So what does it mean for Grande’s squeaky-clean persona that she’s now engaged to a comedian whose skirting-dangerous image includes a bout with addiction and a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder? Does Grande have a wild side waiting to get out? A caretaking side she’s ready to embrace? Maybe fans and onlookers are freaking out because they’re realizing they don’t know Grande as well as they thought they did.

Either way, let’s all make sure we’re here for Cazzie David, Davidson’s ex-girlfriend, who’s doing exactly what she should by drinking a lot of red wine
