Ariana Grande Explains Why She’s Changing Her Name

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson got engaged earlier this summer. Now, Grande reveals that she has another major “life event” that’s about to happen: changing her last name.

In an Apple Music Beats 1 interview with Ebro Darden, Grande admits that she won’t be giving up on her last name entirely. She’s going to meet her fiancé in the middle and hyphenate her surname. Currently, Ariana’s legal last name is Grande-Butera, but after she and Davidson get married (no word yet on when that will be), it’ll be Ariana Grande-Davidson.

“I have to keep Grande because of my Grandpa,” she told Ebro. “I think of him with everything I do in it and he was so proud of our name, I should keep it.”

Eventually, she might drop the last names altogether.

“I feel like I’d eventually just be Ariana, isn’t that sick?” she said. I feel like it’s got a ring to it.”
