Balmain Army, meet the Angel Squad
Victoria’s Secret announced on Instagram yesterday that Balmain will be designing custom looks for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, as well as debuting a #VSxBalmain collection that will be available in-store and online November 29.
This is the first time Victoria’s Secret has teamed up with a high fashion brand for a collection the average customer can buy. Balmain seems like a natural for the job with its penchant for structure, bodycon silhouettes, and cage cut-outs.
Olivier Rousteing, creative director for Balmain, has been a demonstrated fan of the angels in the past. He has attended the brand’s presentations and casts its models for his runway shows. Just last week, Harper’s Bazaar writes, VS Angels like Alessandra Ambrosio, Josephine Skriver, and Elsa Hosk walked in his Spring 2018 presentation during Paris Fashion Week.
The #VSxBalmain collection is coming right off the heels of Balmain’s collaboration with L’Oréal that featured lipsticks in a rainbow of shades. We don’t know what to expect from the collection yet — an art teaser with “Punk Is Chic” and “Danger” scribbled in white on a black background and a sultry 25-second video are all we have from Victoria’s Secret so far.
Tune in to CBS on November 28 at 10/9 central to watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and get ready to shop the next day.
