Another day, another win for Bey. Balmain x Beyoncé merchandise will soon be available for purchase. Bey and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing worked together on a capsule collection dropping this Friday, July 13.
The collection came about when Rousteing and Bey were working together on her Coachella outfit earlier this year.
“When she saw all the dancers loving the outfit—and she was loving her own outfit—she realized that what we were creating on stage for her, for all the dancers, was something really impactful,” Rousteing told Vogue.
“Sometimes, you create a moment, and it’s just one moment. With the clothes that we are creating now, it’s going to be a moment that keeps going and going and going. This is something really important,” Rousteing continues.
“Everybody is always telling me about millennials or about the future—this is the future [sic] This collaboration is talking to the new generation and saying you can get that piece, you can be a part of the history.
While Rousteing waxes poetic, the Beyhive has noted that the collection won’t be cheap. It will feature t-shirts, at $290, and sweatshirts ranging from $550-$1,790, all available on Beyonce.com and Balmain.com.
Luckily though, it’s for a good cause. Proceeds from the collection will go towards the United Negro College Fund, which aims to help black students attend college. The fund is close to both Beyoncé and Rousteing’s hearts.
“The donation was the main goal of this collaboration,” said Rousteing. “We don’t forget where we come from. This is really, really important—I come from an orphanage, you know. I think there is something really emotional about our collaboration.”
