The New York-based luxury department store Barneys is packing up and heading west for a 2-day, immersive shopping experience called The Drop. The Barneys bonanza will take place at their Los Angeles flagship store and feature over 90 brands to check out. Shoppers looking for a something a little more special will rejoice in the 20 exclusive capsule collections that are dropping during the brand’s second annual event.
“This year, we’ve created a fresh take on fashion for a new generation, with even more collections and activations across women’s men’s, beauty, jewelry, and more,” said Daniella Vitale, chief executive officer and president, Barneys New York, in a statement about The Drop.
The event, which takes place June 2-3, is guaranteed to be action-packed.
“The creative spirit of Los Angeles through imaginative environments, thought-provoking panel discussions, LA food favorites, entertainment, and a special musical performance,” Vitale explains.
Some of the 90 brands who will sell some of their exclusive pieces include Fendi, Moschino, Prada, Givenchy, Balmain, and Versace. Others who will be creating exclusive capsule collections for the shopping affair are Rick Owens, Manolo Blahnik, Birkenstock, and Wu Wear.
The star-studded affair will even feature designer appearances by the likes of Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo, NYC up-and-comer Heron Preston, and Moschino’s Jeremy Scott. Later in the evening, a to-be-announced Live Nation artist will stage a performance as well.
If music and shopping aren’t a hit, then the night’s more lively festivities shouldn’t disappoint.
Behind Barney’s Beverly Hills doors, there will be a Gucci roller rink, a Prada Pachinko Parlor, a Heron Preston NASA-inspired experience, a “Sliced by Fila” pizzaeria, and a Birkenstock Park with Moon Juice refreshments. Still bored? There will also be piercing booths, dip dye sneaker customzations, and Oliver Peoples photo booth.
