Frisson Knits’ creator, Charlotte Jennings, was on the right path when she named her recently-launched knitwear brand. The French word frisson translates to shiver, an adequate depiction of us come winter. Sustainably conscious shoppers take note: Each garment is handmade using New Zealand-grown and spun wool.
Maiami
There’s nary a micro-influencer that hasn’t posed in one of Miaimi’s colorful striped sweaters. The Berlin-based knitwear brand, brought to life by Maike Dietrich, is a favorite for well-coiffed lifestyle bloggers—so much so that they even released a capsule collection with Madewell this past fall.
Valentine Witmeur Lab
Valentine Witmeur started her Belgium-based brand in a quest to produce high quality, one-of-a-kind garments. The label’s knitwear is crafted by a small, family-owned atelier in Portugal, resulting in beautiful sweaters sold for a relatively affordable price point.
Loopy Mango
Since 2004, Loopy Mango’s two New York-dwelling founders, Waejong Kim and Anna Pulvermakher, have been inspiring women to take up the craft themselves through comprehensive D.I.Y. crochet kits and materials. Though the kits are Loopy Mango’s bread and butter, the brand’s own handcrafted creations that are worth checking out.
Gold Freckles
Just across the pond, Saskia Thomas has been turning a fun hobby into an exciting new fashion brand. Coming from a generational line of seamstresses, Thomas went on to earn a textile degree, using knitting as a meditative pastime. In time, her knitwear designs had garnered enough praise for her to eventually launch Gold Freckles.
