Brooklyn City Guide: Greenpoint

In partnership with NET-A-PORTER.COM

Just north of the ever bustling Williamsburg is the neighborhood of Greenpoint. You may have heard its name in the same sentence with cult brunch spot, Five Leaves, or maybe you’ve made the trek to hit up old school donut shop and Sunday hangover cure, Peter Pan. But there’s so much more to this neighborhood than meets the eye.

“Greenpoint has an authentic multi-generational community that feels unchanged in the midst of Brooklyn’s explosion over the last 10 or so years. I love the neighborhood because it’s less commercial than Williamsburg, but still has awesome pockets of young, independent creatives starting their own businesses and each street feels a real rawness and dichotomy of old and new.” – Lauren Kaiser, Director of Marketing

Dive into our guide for the best of the best from dive bars to ultra chic home décor spots.

Situated in the east end of the neighborhood is Selamat Pagi, a trendy, Balinese restaurant. The white walls and neon signs transport you to places of cool, beachy vibes and the food makes sure you stay there. Go for veg-heavy dishes with curry, noodles and lots of fried rice. Across town and on the waterfront is Achilles Heel, a gastropub serving up high quality American fare in a spot that feels like an always open grocer. Take advantage of the waterside views and grab a drink from the bar overlooking the skyline.

Though Greenpoint is home to some amazing vintage spots (mid-century home furnishings, well-curated 90s staples) the best spots to play in this neighborhood are of a different variety. Grab a group of friends and head over to The Gutter for the ultimate dive bar-meets-bowling alley experience complete with trophies and original old school lanes. Keeping on those vibes, continue the night at Goldie’s. The bar is decorated with gold formica booths and velvet portraits of cowboys. It basically feels like you’ve stepped into Elvis Presley’s boudoir, a win in our book.
