Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have taken opposing stances in what has become one of the most hotly debated New York elections (and pop culture moments) in awhile. Cynthia Nixon’s bid for governor got Cardi’s vote, but that’s not the case with Minaj, who tweeted her support for Governor Cuomo.
“New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo,” Nicki tweeted on Wednesday, speaking specifically to low and moderate income housing residents. “They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER.”
‼️‼️‼️New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Hochul & Tish James. They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER. Spread the word. See you at the Polls‼️‼️‼️

Yesterday, Cardi B showed her support for Cuomo’s opponent and Sex and the City alum Cynthia Nixon. “Polls close around 8PM,” Cardi wrote on Instagram. “NEW YORKERS VOTE NOW,” tagging Cynthia’s name and her Lt. Governor Jumaane.
It would be a big assumption to say Cardi’s endorsement for Nixon was simply to spite Nicki, but who knows, given the on-going tension between the two New York rappers and their recent dust up at Harper’s Bazaar‘s “ICONS” party during fashion week.
