Cardi B is on a roll and won’t be taken down, if VH1’s “Love & Hip-Hop” producer Mona Scott-Young has anything to say about it. According to an interview with Page Six, Scott-Young believes that Cardi will come out on top amid all of the controversy that is currently surrounding her and fiance Offset.
Recently, Cardi has been under siege by a number of lawsuits, including one from a former manager and a fan who claims they were beat up by Cardi and Offset’s security detail. There’s also been a recent social media fight with Azalea Banks, where she deleted her Instagram account before reactivating it shortly after. Not to mention the rumored beef between her and fellow female rapper Nicki Minaj.
On top of all the drama, Cardi is pregnant with her first child, not making the situation any easier on her. But despite all of the setbacks that come with being a world famous rap star, Scott-Young believes that Cardi can handle it.
“Let the haters hate—I know Cardi has withstood a lot, but I’m sure that it’s not going to take her down,” she said. “She is taking some much needed time off … She is having a baby and we tend to think that we are superwoman…So I commend her on unplugging and taking the time off. If that’s what she thinks she needs in order to make sure she is healthy so that she does the most important job, which is creating life.”
Contrary to what Scott-Young thinks, Cardi doesn’t need much time off. Early last week, she dropped the music video for the song “Be Careful” off of her album Invasion of Privacy. Then, on Thursday, she starred in J.Lo’s new “Dinero” music video, where the dynamic duo are seen burning money and grilling ribs. Today, she’s blessed us with another beat: a tropical, dancehall-inspired music video for her track “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
