Words matter. That’s what Kendall Jenner discovered recently when she said in an interview with Love magazine about the modeling industry, “I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 [fashion] shows a season or whatever the f – – k those girls do.” People took Jenner to task for her comments, which critics say reeked of privilege. Carol Alt, former Lancôme supermodel, didn’t like Jenner’s comments either.
“I was the daughter of a fireman. What chance did I have against the Gwyneth Paltrows of the world? They were Hollywood elite, and Hollywood royalty,” Alt told Page Six.
She added, “I remember losing my Lancôme contract to Isabella Rossellini. I took Lancôme to No. 1, and they wanted royalty. I was a new young face so Lancôme dropped me . . . But the best part about it is that Covergirl picked me up, and I took Covergirl to No. 1. So it worked out just fine.”
