Just one more reason to love Carrie Fisher
When she learned her friend Heather Ross had been assaulted by a producer, Carrie Fisher demonstrated in a truly brilliant way that she’s willing to go the extra mile for what she believes in — and it came in the form of a cow tongue wrapped in a Tiffany’s box.
According to Page Six, Fisher saw the producer who had assaulted her friend at Sony studios. Ross recalled Fisher’s response: ““I knew [the producer] would probably be there, so I went to his office and personally delivered a Tiffany’s box wrapped with the white bow. It was a cow tongue from [Los Angeles’] Jerry’s Famous Deli with a note that said, ‘If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box.’”
If she were alive today, Fisher would likely have a lot to say about sexual assault in Hollywood. “It’s a man’s world and show business is a man’s meal, with women generously sprinkled through it like overqualified spice,” she once said.
In a now-viral interview with Tucson, Ariz.’s 94.9 Mix FM, Robinson said that in 2000, a producer allegedly sexually assaulted her after inviting her to dinner to discuss an upcoming project. She remained silent but told her story to Fisher online in a series of messages. It was weeks later that the cow tongue was delivered.
“She had an amazing heart,” Robinson said to NBC News. “If you were one of the lucky people that she loved, she loved you with everything she had. In her world, it was okay to feel vulnerable because she made you feel safe in doing so. That alone is a huge gift.”
