Charlotte Cho Is Obsessed With Hair Essence And Steam Cream

Very few moments in the day are as bare as the moment you wake up. We each have our own kinks and quirks that help us get out of bed, but few of us are brave enough to share them with the world. Introducing A Cool Morning, a deep dive into the intimate daytime rituals of our coolest friends and beauty innovators.

If you want to know a thing or two about K-Beauty, then head to the master: Charlotte Cho. As the co-founder of both Soko Glam and Then I Met You, it’s safe to say that Cho knows a thing or two about keeping your pores clean and tight. While her credentials are impressive, what really wowed us is her natural glow—seriously, to say her skin is great is the understatement of 2019.

So, how does Cho balance two businesses and her perfect porcelain skin all at once? The only way one can: by rising early and taking on the day, one cleanser at a time. Below, we talk to Cho on her D.I.Y. matcha lattes, her blow drying trick for cold mornings, and more.

What’s the first thing you do every morning?

“Meditate for 10 minutes using Headspace.”

Do you have a morning workout routine?

“I save working out for the weekends. Instead, I’ve been reading in the morning. My current read is Home Remedies by Xuan Juliana Wang.”

Shower at-night, morning or both?

“Shower in the morning. I have major bed-head if I shower at night.”

Daily alarm time? How many times do you hit snooze?

“5:30AM, and hit the snooze at least twice. I know, 5:30 is wishful thinking.“

If you’re running late, what’s the one thing you have to do?

“Give a heads up to the person I’m meeting, and let them know I’m running late! It’s common courtesy.”

Favorite breakfast?

“Cold brew or iced matcha latte. I often document my obsession making DIY matcha lattes on my Instagram.“

Weirdest morning beauty habit?

“When it’s cold, I blow dry my body with the Harry Josh Pro Dryer to warm me up.”

Tell us your morning hair-care routine.

“Tousling hair essence from British M. and blow drying it enough before I do a light curl. Yes, there is hair essence, and it makes your hair super silky soft.”

How much time do you spend on your skincare routine?

“It only takes me about 5-10 minutes in the morning to get ready, despite having multiple steps. My current routine consists of double cleansing with Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm, and the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel. Then I use the Mamonde Hydrating Beauty Water to tone and prep my skin. Next, I spritz and douse my skin with the Acwell Licorice Essence Mist. I deal with hormonal breakouts, but right now I’m focused on treating and brightening my skin with a new Neogen brightening product that is not curated yet to Soko Glam but stay tuned, it soon will be. Lastly, I layer on a steam cream, which I’ve been loving from Benton. It’s been extremely dry and cold lately, and my lips tend to flake easily, so I’ve been nourishing it with the Klavuu Lip Sleeping Mask, it smells sweetly of almonds and vanilla.”

How long do you usually take to get ready for the day?

“From hitting the shower to walking out the door, it’ll take me about 1 hour tops. If I have a podcast or audiobook on, it slows me down a bit.”

What’s the one product you could never leave the house without putting on?

“Sunscreen and a winged-tip eyeliner!”

The first thing that popped into your head this morning?

“I’m meeting Kristie Dash today! She’s the sweetest.”
