The Strappy Thong Sandal Of Your Dreams (Or Nightmares) Has Been Resurrected

There are very few designers who have capitalized on Instagram’s reach with the vigor and success of Halsey-favorite Danielle Guizio, the upside of which means every new design drop will set trends and sell-out. And you can bet that’s the exact direction these ’90s thong sandals are heading.

Ready when you are…

They’re the prom shoes you regretted three years later, the heels you had before you met a platform pump you liked, and the sandals you would sling over your shoulder pre-Uber walk-of-shame. We’ve all had a relationship with the strappy sandal, and like any ex you know probably isn’t good for you, they’re resurfacing just when we might have forgotten about them.

That’s not to say this year’s shoe of the summer isn’t welcome. The ongoing ’90s renaissance/looks that Victoria Beckham has absolutely been photographed in is the gift that keeps giving, and the dainty elegance of a strappy sandal means it goes with pretty much everything. While it’s Guizio’s style to go extreme, the show generally privileges a kitten heel — making for a far more wearable than your run-of-the-mill stiletto. Where the New Jerseyan designer loses out in comfort, however, she makes up for in practicality, with the thong design making for slide-free security on sweatier days.

You best believe Kim Kardashian is already up-to-date, and you can be too. All hail the strappy sandal.
