In July, Demi Lovato overdosed on narcotics. The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer was partying late into the morning when her drug dealer Brandon Johnson showed up to her home in the Hollywood Hills. Now, TMZ reports that Johnson blames the OD on Lovato. He says that Lovato knew the risk she was taking when she decided to buy “aftermarket pills” from him.
Johnson told the gossip site that Demi texted him at 4 a.m. on the morning she overdosed, asking him to come over. He “read between the lines and brought pills, which they freebased together”. Johnson claims to not know that they were laced with anything illegal. It was previously reported that Johnson buys drugs from Mexico, “many of which were allegedly laced with fentanyl,” the same drug that killed Prince.
Johnson also alluded to the idea that he and Lovato used to have a sexual relationship, but TMZ‘s “Demi sources” strongly deny his claims.
He said that he left Demi’s house around 8 a.m., and Demi was asleep without any “sign of distress”. However, someone from Demi’s team found her in “deep distress” later that morning and revived her with Narcan. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Since then, Demi has been staying at a rehab facility outside of California and has flown to Chicago for special treatment. Earlier in August, Demi posted a letter to her fans regarding her recovery.
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” Demi writes. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”
