Dorian Electra, a gender-bending artist known for their politically-inclined lyrics and eclectic dance beats, is on the come up in the pop scene. Their socially relevant lyrics and androgynous stage presence only add to their mystique. Below, we catch up with Electra to learn about how style contributes to their persona, the pieces they can’t live without, and the art of turning a daytime look into a night-out outfit.
Where do you live?
DE: “Los Angeles.”
Where are your favorite places to shop?
DE: “Santee Alley (I love to spend HOURS there, they have so many weird and amazing things), The Goodwill Bins, and Dolls Kill.”
What brands are you loving right now?
DE: “Buffalo London and this weird brand called Hot & Delicious that seems to keep appearing in different places—they make a lot of shiny, PVC stuff—and Dolls Kill’s in-house labels.”
What are your go-to outfit essentials?
DE: “Shiny silver anything because it can match with everything and looks amazing under colored lights on stage!”
Tell us your style philosophy.
DE: “Efficiency is my guiding principle! Because I’m always traveling and I also don’t have a ton of space to store stuff at home, I like to focus on having some essential accessories (like black and silver bondage-style strappy belts and harnesses) that can be paired with any color or texture and can easily turn a day look into an evening one for going out or performing.”
