Dresses—some love ‘em, some hate ‘em. For us, the dress offers a quick-and-easy (and usually affordable) way to create an outfit that can be easily zhuzh up or kept low-key. Whether you’re pro-dress or not, there’s one thing we can all agree on: Our 2020 personas could definitely use a bit of revamping (and an ample amount of self-care).
With Fall just around the corner, we’re ready to reinvent ourselves—starting with the dress trends hitting the F/W 2020 runways.
The Leather Dress
Head-to-toe leather, despite everything we’ve been through this year, is still in style. It’s also super versatile—you could go for “simple and pulled-together” with an all-black leather dress, pumps, and a quilted leather clutch or opt for a more casual look by slipping on your favorite sneakers (definitely recommend checking out Rothy’s new slip-on sneaker) and a hoodie. (Think: Emma Claiir.) When it comes to leather, the possibilities are literally endless.
The Shirt dress
Shirt dresses aren’t exactly a “trend” as much as they are a staple item. (Who doesn’t love having an outfit that’s ready to go in .25 seconds?) Even so, we’ve noticed quite a few versions of the traditional shirt dress popping up and they’re pretty eye-catching. From suede to satin, the shirt dress is definitely here to stay.
The Ribbed Knit Dress
While the sweater dress is our No. 1 love of the season, we can’t deny the intrigue of the ribbed knit dress. It’s comfy and sleek. Bonus: Literally anyone who wears a ribbed knit anything looks like they belong canoodling on a yacht somewhere in the South of France.
