Here’s an opinion no one asked for: fashion should be MORE terrifying! You heard it here first. Runway shows, campaigns, etc would all benefit from more horror movie additions, and Eckhaus Latta, as usual, is ahead of the curve on this one.

Sexy clowns, y’all. That’s the move in Eckhaus Latta’s new denim campaign show by Hanna Moon. The campaign features the label’s signature high-waist EL Jean, and designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta have said that Richard Avedon’s 1995 Versace Jeans Couture ad was a big inspiration.

So think Nadja Auermann and Claudia Schiffer — mid-90s — topless and in denim meets freaky/hot clown makeup. For those with coulrophobia (clown phobia, please and thank you!), you might want to avoid these photos, but for everyone else…they’re beautiful! My favorite is this profile of a model, clown makeup slightly smeared, and in a gauzy blue top.

The EL Jean — or “jeans for the cool mom” as Refinery29 dubbed them — are available in three colors this season: black, natural and blue. Four season colors are also available in depression, marigold, indigo dot and bleach yellow.
