Meet your new favorite deliciously dark comedy
The geniuses behind Heathers and Mean Girls are collaborating to bring us a new show about the fashion world. Needless to say, we’re all in. E! ordered a pilot for #Fashionvictim, Variety reports, an hour-long dark comedy from Heathers writer Daniel Waters and his brother, Mean Girls director Mark Waters.
The show, it seems, will tell the story of Anya St. Clair, an aspiring fashion socialite who isn’t afraid to use a switchblade — literally — to get what she wants. Fashion faux-pas, Variety says, can prove to be fatal to anyone who is unfortunate enough to clash with her aesthetic or get in the way of her ambitions. It sounds like…Mean Girls meets Heathers meets the editorial staff of a Condé Nast pub.
#Fashionvictim looks to be the millennial version of these darkly funny favorites, considering the show’s protagonist, Anya St. Clair, is an obsessive wannabe Instagram influencer. The Waters brothers will executive produce the show, in addition to 500 Days of Summer producer Jessica Tuchinsky.
The show will apparently be based off stories from real-life fashion editor and writer Amina Akhta, according to Variety. “‘In insanely good news, the pilot based off my manuscript is a go!,’ she tweeted. “I’m so excited I need to go dance around the house now.”
