Fila is Bridging the Gap Between “Streetwear” and High Fashion

After taking some time from the fashion spotlight, sportswear brand Fila is making a comeback. Known for being one of the great athletic brands of the 90s, the nostalgic brand is taking its street sensibility to the runways of Italy this September at Milan Fashion Week.

“After a number of successful fashion collaborations, we thought it was a natural progression to be on the official Milan Fashion Week calendar with our own show,” said the brand’s global chairman Gene Yoon

There will also be “an exhibition delivering a 360-degree storytelling experience” when the brand stages their first runway show in September.

Fila entering into the realm of high fashion is a natural progression for the brand, given the sportswear trend that has been rising in popularity. Other brands like Thom Browne and Yoox have also tapped into this interest in fashion and sports.
