6 Perfect Summer Outfit Ideas To Try On The Fourth Of July

If you’re anything like me, when it comes to occasion dressing, sometimes you need a little bit of inspiration to get you going. For the Fourth of July, there is a lot of different things you could be doing, seeing, and therefore wearing. And that’s not even taking into account unpredictable weather. Regardless of whether it’s a barbecue with friends or a small weekend getaway, each opportunity calls for something different.

Today, we polled our staff to see where they’re going and what they’re doing this long weekend. Hopefully, it will spark some ideas for you too! (Hint: there’s a lot of swimwear options.)

What to do:
This July 4th, I’m going to attempt to avoid crowds at all cost and camp out at my friend’s beach club in Mamaroneck, NY—it’s the perfect laid-back spot for poolside lounging (with lots of children afoot) and watching the fireworks in NYC and across the Long Island Sound.
What to wear:
My look needs to be easy, and also transition from day to night, so I’m opting for this leopard print and grosgrain number from Zimmermann (with loads of layered gold jewelry, obvs). After the sun sets, I’ll throw on high-waisted linen pants for a breezy look that can withstand watermelon juice, BBQ sauce, and loads of sunblock. Happy 4th, y’all!

What to do:
I’m going to be in Montreal enjoying a six-hour spa day at a really cool place called Bôta Bôta. I’m leaning into full vacation mode, and plan on keeping things really low key. At night, I’m going to a really amazing vegan restaurant in the area called Lov.
What to wear:
At the spa, I’ll likely be wearing a bathrobe, so that doesn’t count. For dinner, I’m wearing a corset-style top by this great sustainable brand called Lilt. I’ll probably pair it with kick-flare jeans and a pair of block heels.”

What to do:
For the first half of the weekend I’ll be heading to Boston to celebrate all things America with one of my oldest friends. For the second half I’ll be home in Jersey City, laying by the pool or cooking out with my family in Queens. Sparklers will most definitely be involved.
What to wear:
“I don’t want to have to think about what I’m wearing this weekend, so I’ll probably be relying on easy basics. I live in white tees during the summer, so I’ll be one I can wear with a denim skirt”
