Frank talks about peace, love and Szechuan sauce

There have been a lot of dark things going on the last few weeks (or the last year, let’s be real) but let Frank Ocean bring you a little bit of light. Ocean collaborated with i-D on a 32-page visual portfolio and wrote an essay about fame, fan nicknames, and McDonald’s Szechuan sauce. His essay strikes a tone that somehow evokes deep emotion alongside Szechuan sauce (leave it to Frank Ocean).

Here’s an excerpt below:

Re: the photos… as Karl Lagerfeld would say they ‘came to me in a dream.’ Summer two thousand and seventeen. We leaned into it. Bananaberry flavored candies at the bottom of the cup. I’ll never know why or what’s with campouts for Szechuan sauce at McDonald’s. But I’m way into it. Issa Dreamworld. If you liked two thousand and seventeen then you’ll love two thousand and eighteen.”
