When it comes to millennial-age cosmetics, Glossier reigns supreme. From their powder pink packaging to bestsellers like Boy Brow and Balm Dotcom, Emily Weiss’s skincare and makeup brand seems to lure customers in with every new product release. And, as if Glossier couldn’t seem any better, they’ve finally done what so many have waited for—they’ve expanded their shade range.
Glossier’s shade expansion seems a little late in the game, but as the saying goes, it’s better late than never. The brand announced on Tuesday that they have increased the shade options across all of their cult-favorite complexion products.
“With all of our products, our priority is always to create the best possible experience for our customers,” Glossier said in a statement to COOLS. “In this case, that meant revisiting our complexion lineup to make some improvements. In June 2018, we reformulated Perfecting Skin Tint based on customer feedback and were in the process of developing extended shade ranges across all Perfecting Skin Tint, Stretch Concealer, and Wowder.”
The statement also noted that they have worked for over a year and a half on expanding their range. The results: A total of 12 shades for their Perfecting Skin Tint and Stretch Concealer, and five shades for Wowder.
As first glance, these shade ranges still feel miniscule in comparison to, say, Fenty Beauty’s 50 foundation shades. But, the brand states that, due to their lightweight coverage, each of their items can complement a variety of skin tones:
“Our complexion products have always been core to our ‘Skin First, Makeup Second’ philosophy,” Glossier said. “Designed to enhance—not cover up—skin, Perfecting Skin Tint, Stretch Concealer, and Wowder live between the land of bare skin and makeup makeup. The coverage is sheer, breathable and buildable, and the ultra-thin, flexible formulas are designed to live with you, not on you.”
All the expanded and original shades are currently available on Glossier’s website.
