Just do it.

In case you’re living under a rock, today is November 6. And the reason your newsfeed, social media, subway chatter, and hopefully watercooler convo is going ham with political talk is because it’s midterm election voting day.

There is a lot at stake today—both in and outside Washington. For starters, today’s vote will determine which party controls the two chambers of congress and has power over the current administration. In addition, 33 states have Senate races this fall, along with gubernatorial elections, all the way down to the municipal level.

Sound intense? That’s because it is; today’s vote will affect everyone—immigrants, minorities, our LGBTQ community—and participating is a privilege not to be taken lightly. Vote for yourself, vote for your community, and vote for those who don’t have the platform to affect change.

Once you’ve gotten yourself to the polls or submitted an absentee ballot—if you are voting out of state—you’ve done the important part. You will feel a general wash of accomplishment and receive a small sticker that says, ‘I Voted.’ Today, that sticker means more than it ever has—it’s your battle cry; your commemoration of participation in our democracy. So, do the right thing, and blast that shit all over social media.

Here’s Jada Pinkett Smith doing it.

Oh, what up, JT? He voted too…

That’s right. Today, we are encouraging gratuitous selfies with your well-deserved ‘I Voted’ sticker.  There is no step-by-step guide, no perfect light, no right angle, no bad outfit—just do it. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter how. Because the only thing worse than a bad ‘I Voted’ selfie, is not voting at all.
