That was fast. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged in July during a Bahamian trip together. Yesterday, they got married only three months later.
Bieber, who’s 24, proposed to Baldwin, 21, with a ring reportedly worth $500,000 after only a few months into their on-again off-again relationship together. The engagement was blessed by both of their families with the wedding ceremony being planned to take place sometime next year in 2019. Those plans went out the window when the young couple eloped at a New York City courtroom.
“They went ahead and did it without listening to anyone,” a source confirms with PEOPLE. Another “religious source” confirms that they still plan to have a “big blowout” with friends and family soon. TMZ also released photos of the couple leaving the courtroom yesterday.
According to the outlet, Bieber said to Baldwin, “I can’t wait to marry you, baby.” The same story reports that Justin told a court official, “Thanks for keeping it on the DL.”
PEOPLE reports that this hasty wedding wasn’t that unexpected, despite the fact that Hailey Baldwin told a beauty editor at the Cut yesterday morning that the wedding wasn’t happening until sometime next year. Baldwin shared the news during a launch for bareMinerals, for which she is now one of the faces.
The young couple has yet to actually confirm that they finally sealed the deal on their years-long romance, but signs point to most likely. As for what that will look like when it does finally happen? “I just picture lights everywhere,” Baldwin said. “I think having it in the woods would be so beautiful.”
