Kanye West recently made claims that he is moving back to Chicago, permanently, and “never leaving again.” West grew up in Chicago, but the “I Love It” rapper has since moved to the greater Los Angeles area, where he lives with Kim and their family. He told fans at OpenMike, an event hosted by Chance the Rapper for high school kids.
“I’ve got to let you all know, that I’m moving back to Chicago,” West said in a video that TMZ posted, “and I’m never leaving again.” The crowd breaks out into a cheer, chanting Kanye’s name.

While Kanye may be riding his “hometown hero” high, Kim isn’t exactly on board with his grand plan to uproot their lives and relocate full-time.
According to a source that spoke to PEOPLE, “Kanye has a tendency to change his mind quickly, so she is just going along with his plans because it makes him happy,” adding, “Next week, something else might make him happier.” Another source also said, “He changes his mind like he changes his underwear.”
Even if Kanye does move, Kim doesn’t plan to chase after him. She wants to continue raising their children, North, 5, Saint, 2 and a half, and Chicago, 9, in Calabasas.
“She thinks it’s best for the kids to continue their schedule in LA. North is in school and everything is working great,” the source continued. “Kim doesn’t think a permanent move to Chicago benefits the kids. Also, Kim wants to be around her family as much as possible too. She loves their new house and it finally feels like a home to her.”
