Another Coachella [weekend one] has come and gone, with all of Calabasas and their Hollywood Hills cohort evacuating their gated communities and heading to the desert. While Coachella was once known for its capability to attract the most coveted musical acts, it has since become something else entirely: namely, a style-guide to summer dressing for the impending season.
And so we’ve watched as celebrities and influencers have embraced a Woodstock revival or donned anything dirndl, and now your favorite reality sensations/models/moguls, the Jenner sisters, have decided the accessory you’ll be wearing no matter what the temperature: opera gloves.
Despite the 80-plus degree heat of Coachella Valley, both girls opted to accessorize their festival looks with long, evening-inspired gloves in various textures and designs. Kylie opted for mesh with sparkly blue-green tinged diamanté’s, which paired well with her sequin-embellished turtleneck t-shirt dress.
Kendall, however, arrived at shopping platform Revolve’s party sporting a more traditional style: white full-length gloves decorated with green crescents.
We’ve seen a rise in glove-incorporated dresses with the prevalence of Demna Gvasalia (or Riccardo Tisci, as seen on the pair’s older sister Kim at a very memorable Met Gala) but this is one of the first recorded instances of beyond-the-elbow evening gloves making an appearance in celebrity street style.
If you’d already clocked opera gloves for the warmer months and now have to abandon your investment, we apologize. Otherwise, head over to Amazon to purchase a pair and prepare for no wrist to be left uncovered — this trend is about to be everywhere.
