Here are the stats on Lauren Hutton: Since becoming one of modeling’s biggest names in the ’70s, Hutton has been on 40 Vogue covers (27 American editions), 13 international covers, and, now, at almost 74, she’s the oldest model to grace the cover of any Vogue magazine.
Kicking off a new chapter of Vogue Italia, with new editor Emanuele Farneti taking the reins, Hutton is the star of not one but all three covers of the magazine’s new “Timeless Issue.” She beat out Tina Turner on the cover of Germany’s Vogue at 73 years old and four months to Hutton’s 73 years old and 11 months.
Hutton has always been one to revolutionize. She was the first model to demand a contract (and, as such, better pay for women) and has recently been seen again on the runway, walking hand-in-hand with Gigi Hadid at Milan Fashion Week and as Calvin Klein’s new resident underwear model.
74-year-old model Benedetta Barzini can be found inside the issue along with Iman, 62, and new CoverGirl Maye Musk, 69. Artist Marina Abramović, 70, and Instagram star Baddiewinkle, 89, also appear in the magazine’s pages.
Hutton told WWD that, out of all her covers, “this is the most important” because it “has made me feel most useful.”
