And now, the singer is going on tour to celebrate the anniversary of her career-making album. Pitchfork reports that she’ll be performing the album in full while on the road, with the tour kicking off July 5 at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also a very cool thing: part of the ticket sale proceeds will benefit the MLH foundation, a foundation that provides support for education, health, agriculture, technology, and community-based programs.
Hill will also be the headlining performer at Pitchfork Music Festival during the fest’s closing night on July 22. She’ll be hitting venues in pretty much every major city, from Toronto to Dallas, Miami to Las Vegas. Tickets are on sale now at the anniversary-themed price of $20, and if you’re in New York City, you’ll get to catch Hill perform at the Apollo Theater (I’m getting goosebumps already).
The singer talked about what the tour means to her:
“This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date,” Hill said in a press release. “I loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm.”
