Praise Be, Lily-Rose Depp Reignites The Retro Eye

We’ve recently been plagued by less is more. The cat-eye has long-since been declared dead and the no makeup-makeup look, ushered in by supermodels and perpetuated by beauty brands like Glossier, has taken over, and left us with, well, not much to work with.

So what does one do when the hot new trend is no trend at all? We rebel with retro, as proved by Lily-Rose Depp on her 20th birthday. The multi-hyphenate (to be specific, actress/model/It girl/Chanel muse) debuted a new look to celebrate her entrance into the terrible 20s with crease eyeliner that overran the late ’60s. And, considering we’re perpetually in the grips of nostalgia ultra  for decades past, it was the perfect makeup trend to break us out of our box.

With a matte liquid eyelid blending seamlessly into a smudged line following the brow bone, Depp is serving ’60s siren. Coupled with the kohl-defined upper and lower waterline, this is exactly the kind of dramatic effect we’ve been missing and frankly, we’re grateful.

Thank you Lily-Rose forever and always. And if you can’t get enough, take summer style inspiration from her right here.
