I have mile markers (shall we call them epiphanies?) for becoming a “real adult.” You know, those times when you think to yourself: “Should I really be doing this anymore?” One of those life-changing moments was when I realized that my duct-tape-embellished suitcase with its torn seams and frayed strings wasn’t exactly working anymore.
Cab drivers would say “Oh!” whenever I dropped the sad-sack (literally, in this case) on the curb to be thrown into their trunk, people in the airport would stare as I lugged it through the terminal, and bellhops would always question: “Is this your bag, miss?” But what the world didn’t know was that I moved to New York with that sad, red (now burgundy thanks to the muck and dirt) sack. So I shamelessly kept it for as long as I could.
If you’re in a situation like this one, then I have two things to say to you: Kudos for having the ability to care about a bag just as much as I do; now, dump it and get yourself a new one. Here are a few (v adult) options to choose from.
