A tattoo model is saying his image was used without his consent
Before Cardi B was dethroning Taylor Swift and topping Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, she released her 2016 debut mixtape Gangsta Bitch Vol. 1. The cover featured Cardi drinking a Corona and receiving oral sex. Now, tattoo model Kevin Brophy, the man used in the photo, is coming out of the woodwork to say that he never signed off on his photo being used in a sexual manner.
TMZ reports that Brophy says he found out about the cover from a friend who told him, “How crazy is it that you’re ‘cunnilinging [sic] this rapper called Cardi B.’” Brophy told TMZ that his preschool-aged son had seen the cover and asked him what he was doing in the photo.
It’s worth noting that social media star Brandon Walczak says that, in fact, he is the person featured in the cover art. He posted an Instagram video of himself and Cardi B, a video the rapper had originally shared, saying “@iamcardib iunno if this shit is real but it’s all over the fuckin internet right now. Tag Cardi, tag TMZ, tag Worldstar.”
I’m fairly certain Cardi will weather this minor scandal very well — and likely by posting a scathing Instagram video. Not to mention, I think she might be too busy worrying about her on again/off again relationship with Offset and a potential (and still highly rumored) collaboration with Beyoncé.
