Marc Jacobs’ Wedding Had Better Attendance Than NYFW

Designer Marc Jacobs married his longtime partner Char Defrancesco on April 6th in New York City and, shocker!, it was one of the biggest fashion events of the year.  Even bigger, one could argue, than New York Fashion Week.

In attendance was every model and muse under the sun, including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Cindy Bruna, Naomi Campbell, Emily Ratajkowski, and Chloë Sevigny. Insiders and fellow designers, like the elusive former Céline creative director Pheobe Philo and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour also made appearances. Many of the attendees were dressed in designs created by the famous groom, proving that, even at his own wedding, Marc Jacobs knows a good marketing opportunity when he sees one.

For favors, the pair opted out of the traditional wrapped candy with a date and initials and went for a capsule collection of shirts instead. The adorable take-home gifts featured two otters hugging with the words “don’t float away” written below. A card accompanying the shirt cheekily read, “I came to Marc and Char’s wedding and all I got was this lousy sweatshirt.”

Inside the event, there was a runway style dance routine (appropriate) with dancers wearing matching suits, wigs and heels. It was just about as extra as Jacobs’ flashmob proposal inside a Chipotle.

Congratulations to the newlyweds, and here’s to a lifetime of fashionable parties. Just don’t lose my invite on the next one.
