It’s the first Monday in May and the 2019 Met Gala is officially underway. This year’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion“, has been the subject of weeks of analysis, with every fashion journalist trying to decipher what exactly “Camp” means. The answer, as we now know, is still pretty unclear…but that’s probably the point.
If you read any “What Is Camp?” article on the internet, they all have a different answer to the question explained in photos (many including this year’s host Lady Gaga). It basically gives you the idea that when you see camp in some sort of over-the-top ironic form, you know it.
So when it comes to the red carpet interpretation this year, the big question is who pulled it off. The answer depends on what you’re looking for.
