Minne Atairu, artist and UX designer, has a serious eye for style. The Instagram beauty, whose profile is splayed with aesthetically inclined still life photos and outfit shots, has a talent for dressing for both her surroundings and herself. Below, we catch up with Atairu to get her take on the best shopping destinations, her favorite brands, and genderless dressing.
Where do you live?
MA: “Washington DC.”
Where are your favorite places to shop?
MA: “I prefer shopping at vintage and second-hand clothing stores. Online, I shop at The RealReal and The Folklore.“
What brands are you loving right now?
MA: “Telfar for being inclusive and genderless, Come Tees, because I love a good graphic tee, and Come Back As a Flower for their extraordinary tie-dye pieces.”
What are your go-to outfit essentials?
MA: “A tailored men’s pant and Dr. Martens boots!”
Tell us your style philosophy.
MA: “Don’t always wear things that are designed for you: gender assignments shouldn’t prevent a woman from wearing a well-tailored men’s trouser or a man from wearing a tiered ruffle pant. The same theory is applicable to clothing sizes, too.”
