In Honor Of National Lipstick Day, Our Editors’ Pout-Perfecting Picks

Like all of us, lipsticks come in a magnificent array of shapes, sizes, and hues. So, it’s no wonder that there is an official day dedicated to the pout-perfecting staple—and that day is today, my friends. So, in honor of National Lipstick Day, why wouldn’t we take the time to share our favorite lippies currently lingering in the bottom of our purses?

We know that wading through the stock piles of mattes and glosses out there can get overwhelming. So, crack a smile and kiss smudged lips goodbye with our COOLS editors’ favorite picks:

I rarely wear lipstick—I’m more of a lip gloss kinda girl—but when I do, I turn to Wet n’ Wild for its vibrantly hued matte lipsticks. Truthfully, they’re a little drying, but the formulation is so matte and stay-proof, I can literally eat lunch and dinner and never worry about seeing a flick of color on my teeth. Plus, at less than $3 a piece, the price cannot be beat!

Mattes tend to leave my lips feeling parched and weighed down by the end of the day. Plus, dryness does not do my tiny lips any favors. But, the MAC Cosmetics Powder Kiss Lipstick stands far above the rest. It’s lightweight, and doesn’t leave your pout chapped or dry, yet stays ultra-pigmented and budge-proof the whole day.

I am a big ‘lips’ person, when those “what would you grab in a fire” or “what makeup product would you take to a deserted island” my answer is always the same: lipstick. That being said I go through fazes with styles, colors, and consistencies and right now I pair a drug store lip stain with lip gloss and call it a day. I know I should—and must—branch out soon, but right now I am perpetually overwhelmed by decision fatigue and this is the most I can manage.

I don’t wear lipstick too often because I feel like it’s very heavy on my lips and gets everywhere, but the Fenty Mattemoiselle formula could definitely change my mind. Super lightweight and non drying.

I never leave home without this lipstick. In the tube it’s green, but once you apply, it adjusts to a rosy pink color based on your PH levels. We love science! The formula is also super moisturizing—a godsend for my notoriously dry lips.

I love the Dior Sugar Scrub lipstick! To be honest I think I saw a Bella Hadid commercial with it or something and they got me. It feels really nice and its a nice easy color.

This lipstick from Josie Maran Cosmetics is the only lipstick I ever use. It goes on really smoothly and you can feel it doing what it’s supposed to do! The color is also super subtle and is so easy to wear during the day.
