Today is #NationalSunglassesDay which of course isn’t a real holiday, but if you’re looking to throw a little shade we’ve rounded up our favorite pairs for you to choose from. To me, sunglasses are more than an accessory—even with celebrity street style these days they’ve become the focal point and beginning piece to building a look instead of the afterthought.
From celebrity favorites, to the best under $100 pairs, to some festive Fourth of July picks, you’d be surprised at how a good pair of sunglasses can really make an outfit standout. And just in case you’re one of those really picky people that has to look at all the options before you make a decision, we’ve already highlighted a few of our favorite pairs straight from the runway at Tory Burch, the best trendy pairs for under $200, and styles to explore if you hate the tiny sunglasses trend as much as I do.

Over-sized sunglasses help to elongate the face, and feel very Victoria Beckham and the Olsen twins. They’re very chic and honestly even if you’re just in plain sweatpants you look like a low-key rich person with these on.
When I see sporty sunglasses, I definitely think of Rihanna’s Fenty Puma line and Bella Hadid but if you’re looking to make a fashionable statement they’re a fun trend to try. And to be clear, these aren’t for actually participating in sports, they’re more for looking cute and sporty on the sidelines.
Cat eye are the most universally flattering sunglasses and my go-to choice. Especially with more modern rounded cat eyes that aren’t so overtly feminine, it’s a shape that isn’t too daring but not as basic as the standard aviators that everyone else already has.
Colored lenses are cool way to add a bold note to your outfit. Even if you’re not into wearing color, it’s a subtle way to add a bit of fashion in muted colors, semi-translucent tones or pastel hues.
