We’re currently tightly gripped the talons of retro-inspired swimwear. We took belted bikinis from the ’60s, high-leg bottoms from the ’90s, and tiny triangle tops from the early ’00s. But where are the ’80s?
Oceanus evidently had the same question, and subsequently created sequin-adorned suits for you to swim in this hot, wet, American summer. The one-year-old brand’s ‘Beverly Hills Collection’ is constructed from water-resistant velvet and recyclable lycra, and is served up via a range of high-waist bikinis and flattering full-pieces in a range of outrageous colors and prints to take you from the beach to the bar.
Designer Hannah Attalah recruited videographer and fashion favorite Nadia Lee Cohen to star in the label’s campaign, perfectly embodying “the return of the mob wife…a fearless goddess resides in her postmodernist oasis”—the collection’s theme and key inspiration.
“Embracing our ‘more is more’ ethos, [we fuse] hand embroidery with swimwear made with velvets,” Attalah tells COOLS. “The Oceanus women is fearless as always—expect her to make statements.”
