Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Honeymooning in the Canadian Rockies?

There’s been much speculation over the place that will serve as the newest Royal Honeymoon Destination, starting with Namibia and, now, rumors that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly honeymoon in the Canadian Rockies.

TMZ initially reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be heading to the Canadian province of Alberta to stay at the very regal Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. But later today, People reported that the couple would, in fact, not be stayed at said resort. In spite of Fairmont having a history of hosting royal guests, from King George VI and the Queen Mother to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, a spokesperson from the resort shut down speculation.

“Though Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has a longstanding history of serving as a royal retreat, we can confirm that the couple is not currently booked for a stay,” a representative for the property told People. So where in the world are the new Duke and Duchess going? We still don’t know for sure. Africa has been at the top of the list, mostly because Prince Harry has often talked about his love for Africa, once saying about the continent, “I feel more like myself than anywhere in the world.”

Someone told Travel & Leisure in April that the couple would be honeymooning in Namibia, with a possible spot being Hoanib Valley Camp. Botswana was the location of one of their earlier dates, and Harry and Meghan also took a three-week trip to Africa for her 36th birthday last summer.

“The honeymoon destination has changed a few times since they started planning,” royal reporter Omid Scobie told ELLE.com last week. “If a location leaks prior to travel, it compromises their safety on the trip, and they’ll be advised by their protection team to change plans. William and Kate’s protection officers ended up doing recon on two destinations before they settled on the Seychelles for their 2011 honeymoon. I heard that just over a month before the wedding, Harry and Meghan hadn’t even booked a destination, so these plans have come together rather quickly!”
