The angel on our shoulder is telling us to invest in a plain black parka this winter. And rightfully so: It’s practical, goes with everything, and will last you years. But, as usual, fashion is attempting to persuade us in a different direction. The devil on our other shoulder is shouting: “Florals for winter! Prints for winter! Colors for winter!”—and this time, we’re giving into temptation.
First, we saw puffer coats grow in silhouette (the more oversized, the better). Then, we watched the typical nylon get replaced by not-so-typical (and frankly, not-so-practical) textures like satin and velvet. Now, we’re witnessing them go print-crazy, from leopards to florals. It may seem like a bold move to opt for a jacket that’s covered in technicolor daisies. (That’s because it is.) But you might be surprised by how much fun you can have styling one any of the printed options below. Plus, since your puffer will likely be covering up the rest of your outfit, there’s nothing wrong with letting it hold its own as a statement piece.
With the first snow under our belts, we’ve got at least four more puffer-wearing months ahead—might as well have fun with it. Besides, don’t you have enough “classic” coats in your closet anyway?
