What People Think of “Queer Eye” Chef Antoni’s Restaurant Idea

That’s amore! Antoni Porowski, the avocado salad slinging food expert on Netflix’s “Queer Eye” reboot, is planning to open a restaurant in New York City.

Antoni, who’s also a NYC resident, announced the restaurant opening on Tuesday. He, along with the “Fab Five”, broke the news at a panel discussion held at the 92nd Street Y on Tuesday. All of the details haven’t been revealed yet, like where it will be or when it will open, but we do know that the food is going to be “decadent”.

I’m all about like cheese and pork belly and decadence, and as a result of the increased vanity of being on camera all the time and working out and eating healthy, I’m developing a fast-casual food concept restaurant that I’m gonna be opening here in New York,” Antoni told Food & Wine

Cue the watering mouths.

Antoni plays the food expert on “Queer Eye” and has become famous for helping people navigate a kitchen. He’s quickly become the heartthrob of the show, and has landed a number of campaigns and partnerships with brands like Hanes. He’s not afraid to take a shirtless photograph, either.

But while many people online agree that Antoni is smoking hot, there are a lot of people who don’t think he’s exactly “chef” material. Twitter critics have been poking fun at the “Queer Eye” cook for his kitchen skills.

Is it just going to serve guacamole and green goddess dressing? Lol #antonicantcook,” Tweeted one naysayer.

Another wrote, “Antoni: have you ever cut an avocado? Straight guy: yes I have Antoni: *under his breath*… f—ck”.

In all fairness, there were a lot of “Leave Antoni Alone” tweets in the mix as well.

One person defended him saying, “Antoni teaches the guys simple meals because they cannot cook for shit and Antoni knows this.” Like you KNOW most of the guys fall off Jonathan’s hair routine the second the F5 leaves, but Fuck if they don’t know how to make a pesto dip“.

But as New Yorker food critic Helen Rosner puts it, “Listen, the Antoni question shouldn’t be ‘Can he cook?’ Most people can cook! Antoni clearly can!,” she continued, “The q should be ‘Can he cook well enough (& express his knowledge fluently enough) to be a ‘cooking expert,’ not only on TV but IRL forever in his new career as a famous food person'”.

In other news, Antoni’s selfie with the F5 cast, Gigi Hadid, and Michelle Kwan is so cute.
