‘Tis the season of the “hot girl summer,” which apparently means minimalist beauty looks have been tossed out the door—and we can thank Euphoria in part for that. Ever since the tale of the world’s best-dressed (and most troublesome) teens hit our TV screens, just about everyone has chucked their neutral eyeshadow palettes for neon liners and shimmery rhinestones. And now, it seems even Rihanna, the queen of beauty herself, is hopping on the technicolor bandwagon.
If there’s one thing that RiRi is helmed for, it’s her striking carnival looks. And this year, she did not disappoint. On Monday, she was spotted riding around Barbados for the annual Crop Over Festival, donning nothing less than the brightest of green eyeshadow and the shiniest of rhinestones across her lids—a look that would make every queen bee at East Highland nod with approval. Rihanna then topped off her eclectic look with Bantu knots, manifesting the highest power of a true Y2K moment.
Rihanna’s wild look didn’t stop at her face: contrary to her usual bikini-clad moments at previous Crop Over festivities, the singer and fashion mogul decided to slip into a feather-embellished pink mini dress and pink stilettos, all tied together with bedazzled sunglasses.
Clearly, Rihanna has taken a few tips from the hit show’s Head of Makeup, Doniella Davy. If you want to create RiRi’s cosmic Euphoria-inspired look for yourself, then try out some of Davy’s tips, below:
“ColourPop eyeshadow palettes are my go-to for bright colors and Lemonhead glitter is my go-to for glitter gels,” Davy told Cools. “Glitter gels can be layered on top of eyeshadows, which I usually use a concealer brush to do. Amazon has all the rhinestones. Use white (clear-drying) eyelash glue to attach rhinestones to the skin. NYX vivid brights cream color and Suva Beauty hydra liners for bright colored and neon eyeliner and/or color blocks.”
