The 12-piece collection features classic Rodarte-style ruffle dresses and tops, but at a much more accessible price point. A midi-length dress with adjustable ruching retails for just $200; other pieces include a $240 chiffon jumpsuit and a $150 blouse.
In an email to COOLS, Alexandra Waldman, Universal Standard co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, explained why luxury brands are partnering with them to create their extended collections. “Working together with Rodarte to provide access to beautiful well-made clothing was not only a creative endeavor but an important demonstration of what can happen when a joint mission is manifested. This collaboration proves that it is possible to make beautiful clothing for everyone,” she says. When we asked if there were plans for more pieces in the future, she didn’t answer directly, only revealing: “This is one wave in our overarching mission to provide fashion for all of us as we are. So stay tuned for more to come!”
