For thousands of years, humans have been using their fingers to explore themselves intimately. Whether it’s during a time of upheaval or to pass the time or for no reason at all—everyone deserves to feel good and get that 5-10 seconds of “OH YEAH, BABY.”
Since the beginning of Covid-19, people have not stopped writing about their loneliness and even more so, how they’ve been passing the time. Because a lot of people are dealing with the quarantine alone, the rise in sex toys and ways to pleasure yourself have been at an all time high.
Shelby Sells, sex psychologist and life coach gave us the most inspiring answer on how she’s been passing the time:
I’ve been keeping myself busy by indulging in the pleasures of self-care. Every day I work a little, read (currently I’m reading Attached and I highly recommend it), soak in a bath with Epsom salts (there are ways to achieve this in a shower also), and go the extra mile on my skin care. I have been doing face masks, body scrubs, hair masks – anything I can to treat myself during this stressful time. I usually pleasure myself (masturbate) before bed to get a good night’s sleep. It helps to have a buddy to send sexts/ “wish you were here” texts to! I’ve been drinking a lot (I mean a LOT) of water, taking vitamins, and doing yoga at home to keep my body limber. I’ve also been taking extra care of my mouth by brushing often, flossing, and using mouthwash. You’d be surprised at how much time it takes to devote this care to yourself. Even a mani/pedi or a body massage post-shower is a gift in this state of flux. Never underestimate the power of pleasure and self-love!
