Inclusivity is getting closer and closer to the norm on the runway, our magazine covers and fashion campaigns. As we all know, being inclusive isn’t just about showing a diverse face on the outside, it’s about what is happening behind the scenes as well. Selling and collaborating with a diverse group of designers keeps our retail experience interested and interesting. We are seeing designers step into the spotlight from more ethnically and social diverse backgrounds. We are also seeing their pieces coveted and sold sometimes too quickly.
Take Kenneth Ize for example, this Lagos born Vienna raised LVMH finalist showed for the first time at Paris fashion week last Spring. Not only did Imaan Hamman open the show but non other than Naomi Campbell closed it. You couldn’t hit proceed to purchase fast enough when his beautiful aso oke fringe trousers became available for retail. They sold and sold quickly. Kenneth is just one example of the new energy that is flowing into the fashion realm as the industry starts to open its mind and arms.
