It’s been 12 years since the Olsens launched their line, and two years ago, they featured a handful of menswear pieces in their Upper East Side and Los Angeles flagships. It was a quiet release, a way of experimenting with what works and what doesn’t. Now, after two years, their menswear collection will arrive in The Row stores and a few other retailers in October.
In a statement to Fashionista, the label said that the new collection “echoes the dedication to craftsmanship, exceptional fabrics and fine tailoring” that its womenswear offers. The well-structured, uniform quality of The Row’s offerings garnered the label a CFDA Fashion Award for Accessory Designer of the Year in June.
The statement continued on to describe the collection’s 80s and 90s influences.
“This premiere collection centers around the classic suit with updated modern details. Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen combine the refinement of a classic bespoke experience with the precise minimal masculine style of New York specific to the 80s and the 90s. The construction within these pieces is what defines the incomparable and unique tailoring.”
Their suit will be made in Japan in a factory that went through rigorous Olsen Twin testing according to this Wall Street Journal article. The rest of The Row lineup includes knitwear and accessories made in Italy, denim from America, and shirts from France.
