Meet Yixing, the Chinese Singer Taking Over Men’s Fashion

ICYMI amid all of the news about Jay-Z and Pride, men’s fashion week has been quietly happening in London, Milan, and now Paris. Men’s fashion week is always more low key than it’s female counterpart, but it’s no less fashionable. The influencers and front row attendees at men’s week are so subtle, that sometimes they’re easy to miss.

Enter: Yixing. Yixing is a Chinese singer from the boy band EXO, and he has been making the rounds at men’s fashion week. Better known by his stage name Lay, the singer has amassed quite a rabid following of fans over the years. And they’re all obsessed with his rising fashion icon status.

I SAW YIXING HE IS FXKING BEAUTIFUL ,” tweets one adoring fan.

On Wednesday, Lay was spotted at the Valentino men’s fashion show, where he was seated next to rappers NAS and ASAP Ferg. All three of the fashionable dudes were dressed in looks by the Parisian brand.

Ferg wore a yellow jacket and matching pants, while Nas sported a logo laden, camouflage silk shirt. Lay showed his stripes in a navy coat with a tiger pattern running across it.

After the show wrapped, Lay met up with Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The two posed for the cameras, and Piccioli exchanged kisses with Lay afterwards—clearly a custom that the Chinese singer isn’t used to, given the expression on his face.

While close contact might be uncharted territory for Lay, fashion is not. Lay is one of the most famous singers in China, with killer style to boot. One look at his Instagram shows a smattering of stylish outfits a la Off-White, Converse, and Chaumet.

His heartthrob status has already inspired hashtags. #ValentinoxLAY has started trending on Twitter and Instagram, thanks to his avid fans.
